Specify the product and the shipping lane

Temperature-sensitive procurement begins with the product’s labeled storage conditions and the proposed delivery lane. Capture the planned volume separately from the qualified thermal packout so container capacity does not become a substitute for temperature performance.

What to include in the buying brief

  • Product reference and required temperature range
  • carton dimensions
  • shipment quantity
  • dispatch and receiving windows
  • qualified packaging
  • monitoring and receipt records.

Ask for a complete offer

A shipping scope covering product space, packout, transport conditions and receiving responsibilities.

Keep the exact model or catalogue reference, purchasing quantity and delivery destination on each line. Compare included accessories, setup tasks and recurring items alongside the headline price. A unit price becomes more useful when the quotation also states the purchasing pack, lead time and the records expected at delivery.

Plan handover and replenishment together

Identify who will receive the equipment or supplies and who will retain the asset, lot or expiry records. For equipment, connect operator training and service responsibilities to the delivered configuration. For routine items, use actual consumption and usable stock to plan the next order.

Cold-chain shipment volume provides a transparent worksheet for this planning step.

Your estimate

Adjust the figures for your requirement.

How this estimate is calculated

Product volume = cartons × litres per carton. Packed volume = product volume × (1 + packing allowance % / 100). Containers = ceiling(packed volume ÷ usable product-space litres per container).

Enter usable product space after refrigerants and dividers. The result estimates volume only. Temperature range, hold time, packout configuration and lane qualification follow the product requirements and qualified shipping system.

Initial figures are an illustrative example. Adjust them to your requirement before discussing a purchase.
